EMDF presents the work of the Strategic Alliance on Green Bonds at the conference Development of the Green Capital Market in Vietnam
10 November 2017, Hanoi
To reflect and advance the recent developments made in green finance in Vietnam, GIZ and the State Securities Commission (SSC) of Vietnam co-organized the conference on the Development of the Green Capital Market in Vietnam that was attended by more than 100 participants from the Ministry of Finance and other government bodies, SSC, the State Bank of Vietnam, as well as regional experts and private sector representatives, e.g. stock exchanges and associations. The participants discussed Vietnam’s green finance policy framework, including the national green bond guidelines and the experience made with the inaugural municipal bond issuance. Both initiatives are technically supported by GIZ.
Moreover, the conference served as a platform for peer learning and knowledge exchange in the region. A central topic was the freshly issued ASEAN Green Bond Standards that were presented by Vincente Felizmenio from the Securities Commission of the Philippines. Another topic of interest were China’s green bond policies, especially in relation to its green bond project definitions and practices in external review.
GIZ was, inter alia, represented by Roland Gross, Head of the Competence Center Financial Sector Development, who introduced GIZ’s work in the field of green finance, and EMDF’s Qi Lan, who delivered a keynote speech on the Strategic Alliance’s work on Green Bonds in the context of China’s green bond market development.
